— DAY 14 —

Seattle, Washington

Day sponsored by Portland Anonymous

DAY 14, in which Little Buddy confronts a new nemesis, and gains an overly-confident goof named Gary.

The road across Washington.

Mid-morning before our drive out of Coeur d'Alene, we grabbed coffee at Calypsos Coffee and reached out to a few friends and the twitter, for tips on some locations. The one we became most excited about, the Fremont Troll, instantly sparked a big narrative idea, and Mike got to work in the car on the way.

We stopped at this gorgeous viewpoint along the way; from one specific vantage you could see older historical highways down closer to the water, weaving around sheer cliffs.

We cut ourselves a little bushel of fresh sage out of the many bushes covering the area, to dry out and enjoy the smell.

Maybe we'll even burn it later and cleanse the area of bad vibes.

Pretty sure that's a thing, right?

we drove with our windows open, blasted with the smell of fresh sage as we brainstormed fresh narrative.

The sage was very potent and maybe that's what drove our inspirations, but we were giddy and wanted to do a few things next:

1. Have Little Buddy and Lady come across a big glowing monster inspired by the Fremont Troll.

2. Introduce a third character 'Gary' who looks tough but just has the power to grow flowers.

3. Demonstrate the immense strength of our new friend Lady who we met the night before.

When we got to Seattle, a plaque on the artwork stated that any use of the troll's image would require approval.

We reached out but would need a few days to hear back. Also, we found an article that the artists for the piece sued a business for using an image of the sculpture in a brochure. So, not wanting to run the risk of filming something that we potentially couldn't release, we sought out some other options.

Some nights in this project, we know exactly where we want to shine our projectors.

Other times we can't find something, it gets dark, and we're still locking down a location, ideating on story, and creating content for our daily video too late into the night.

We were most excited about the Fremont Troll, but seeing a big plaque that basically said "no" we decided to look at our other options.

We ended up checking out the pretty incredible Gas Works Park, but it was only open until 10pm, and given our previous timing over the past two weeks, that just wouldn't cut it.

Regardless, it was a pretty sweet park.

We started to feel a bit of panic set in.

Then some friends recommended we take a stroll through Seattle Center with them, as they were fairly certain it didn't ever close.

After much exploration, we found ourselves near the space needle and we looked down, and right in front of us were these little unassuming sculptures.

This was it. We immediately felt a sense of relief and excitement as our plan sparked to life.

Our final episode synopsis: Little buddy and his new comrade, Lady, meet a new adventurer named Gary. At first he's kind of a jerk, but after Lady saves him by turning a big monster into a statue, he joins the crew. Gary's seemingly all talk, as his only powers we're currently aware of involve covering things with flowers. Oh, Gary. Some hero.

It felt nice that going into our finale, Little buddy wasn't alone anymore. Through his journey he's overcome struggles which made him more self-assure, and through that new direction, has aligned with those sharing in his passions.

and now, they arrive...
